James Cotton

James Cotton is an experienced portfolio manager with three decades of public markets and private equity experience. For the first 10 years of his professional career, Mr Cotton was an award-winning Portfolio Manager at the merchant bank Singer & Friedlander in London, where he served for 7 years as the Head of Small Company Investment. From 1997 to 2004, he worked for Montanaro Asset Management, ABN Amro Asset Management in senior investment management positions and advised Troy Asset Management in its early years on various matters relating to their investments. From 1998 to 2004, he was a Co-Founder and Director of Stream Group PLC, a successful telecoms business, floated on the London Stock Exchange in 2001. From 2004 to present, Mr Cotton has been successfully restructuring, financing and investing in a number of private companies in South-East Asia, including David’s Kitchen, currently the no.1 rated TripAdvisor fine dining restaurant in Asia, and he has also established two online media businesses of his own. He also served as a non-executive Director of Medeguide Holdings, an internet based medical search engine. He has been working with Milltrust International since 2010.

Mr. Cotton graduated with a BSc. (Hons) in Management Sciences from the University of Manchester’s Institute of Science and Technology (1987) and completed a number of asset management courses at London Business School (1994). He is conversational in French and Thai. He currently resides with his family in Bangkok, Thailand.
