Amjed embarked on his career journey at Price Waterhouse in the financial sector, catering to major financial institutions. He was later dispatched to the GCC to address the region’s burgeoning needs. During his tenure there, Amjed forged strong relationships with local key players, laying the groundwork for his venture into entrepreneurship. Leveraging this network, he founded Mount Street, an advisory firm specialising in family office solutions and financial advisory services in Saudi Arabia.
Under his leadership, Mount Street played a pivotal role in assisting some of the most influential families in the region. This included streamlining their assets into cohesive portfolios, leading restructuring initiatives, and ensuring operational stability. Capitalising on these accomplishments, Mount Street expanded its services to advise quasi-government entities throughout the GCC.
In 1989, the company transitioned to the UK and rebranded as SAAJ Group. Its focus shifted to supporting large institutional clients and families in their capital deployment within the UK, with a keen focus on investments in the technology and health sectors. Notable clients included the Kuwaiti Investment Authorities, ADIA, Oaks Lyman, and various Middle East sovereign funds.
Following the 2008 financial crisis, SAAJ Group diversified its portfolio to include debt and equity restructuring for real estate investments, addressing the pressing need for liquidity in a distressed market.
In 2019, Mr Al Jaffery assumed leadership of QSat, a telecommunications company established in 2001. QSat is committed to delivering dependable solutions for governments, oil and gas, aviation, and the maritime industry. It quickly rose to prominence, establishing itself as a top independent satellite communication provider in its sector.
