People Change:

The Gates Foundation forecasts that in 2025 the number of children worldwide dying before their 5th birthday will increase for the first time since 2000 as rich countries cut aid which has enabled the number of deaths to halve from nine million in 2000 to 4.6 million in 2024.

Japan is forecast to have less than 670,000 births in 2025, the lowest since records began, causing the population to shrink by more than 900,000 people.

Food and Water:

A study has found that fish living in protected areas around offshore windfarms can be double the size of those living outside the zone.

According to the UK’s Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit, in 2025 British production of the five staple arable crops were 20% below the 10 year average.

The Iranian government has turned to cloud seeding in an attempt to break a severe drought.

Climate Change and the Environment:

According to Copernicus, average global temperatures from 2023 to 2025 were the highest on record.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, 2025 was the Arctic’s warmest and wettest year on record.

According to the World Meteorological Organization, the Arab Region, historically the major source of the world’s oil and natural gas, is ironically warming at twice the global average rate leading to heatwaves and drought.

According to the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network, Caribbean reefs have lost 48% of hard coral since 1980 as marine heatwaves killed microalgae feeding the coral.

More than 60,000 penguins off the South African coast died of starvation between 2004 and 2012 as overfishing and climate change caused food sources to decline.

Australia has been suffering heatwaves and bush fires.

To date 186 French ski resorts have been closed due to climate change.

Low Cost Renewable Energy:

According to Infolink, global battery shipments in the first three quarters of 2025 were 84.7% higher than the same period in 2024.

According to America’s Energy Information Administration, the country’s installed battery increased by 59% in 2025.

Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute has tested an aluminum-graphite-dual-ion battery which does not include lithium.

According to Trend Micro, America experienced more than one million ransomware attacks in 2025.

Australia has banned the use of social media by children aged less than 16 years.
