Mr Higgs serves as the Chief Investment Officer at EISAL a specialist green investment advisor based in Hong Kong focusing on the low carbon environmental goods and services sector in the Asia Pacific region that he co-founded with Keith Olson in 2009.
Mr Higgs has served as portfolio manager for a number of environmental focused equity strategies including the Green Dragon Fund. He also oversees the publication of EISAL’s in-house green company research reports and financial models on Asian listed green corporates. EISAL’s company research reports include a proprietary section on Environmental Social Governance (ESG) that assists ESG analysis being integrated into the investment decision-making process.
From 1987 to 1993, Mr Higgs was Director of Investments of Indosuez Asia Investment Services Limited and was involved in the launch and management of a number of listed country funds, including the Siam Fund, the Malacca Fund, the Manila Fund, the Himalayan Fund, and the Shanghai Fund. From 1993 to 1999 he was Chief Investment Officer and Principal Founder of Carson Investment Management Far East Limited where funds under management exceeded US$2 billion and included a number of listed country funds such as the Sri Lanka Growth Fund and the Siam Recovery Fund.
From 1999 to 2001 he was General Manager of IG International Dublin, the international subsidiary of Investors Group of Canada. He served as non-executive director of BDT Invest Funds from 2000 to 2003. From 2006 he was Managing Director of Bowen Capital Management, the platform on which the Green Dragon Fund was launched before leaving to set up EISAL in 2009.
Mr Higgs first came to the Far East in 1976 when he joined the Royal Hong Kong Police Force and left as a Chief Inspector in 1983. He is a Trustee of WWF Hong Kong.
