Hadyn Craig serves as a venture partner with Milltrust International, is a member of the Milltrust Investment Committee and is a director for Milltrust Ventures UK.
Mr. Craig is an experienced agriculture and investment professional from New Zealand, with two decades of experience in the international agri/food sector, spanning multiple markets in Asia Pacific, Europe and the America’s. He is passionate about long term opportunities in the natural capital sector, directing capital towards innovation and initiatives which contribute to sustainable growth.
Mr Craig’s career began in New Zealand and encompassed agri service businesses and management across farms and real estate assets. He has worked for New Zealand’s largest meat processing company, Silver Fern Farms.
In 2012, Mr Craig joined the global agribusiness company, AbacusBio, as a senior consultant. In this role he led numerous projects including the use of novel farm systems and animal genetic solutions to sustainably increase business and industry returns. Most notably, he delivered a genetic solution to decrease the cost of the multi-million dollar impact of unfavourable fertility performance in dairy cows, which was subsequently adopted by the NZ dairy sector.
Mr Craig transferred to the United Kingdom in 2018 with AbacusBio to support the establishment of their northern hemisphere presence. During this time, he co-foundered Capital Agri International – a specialist agri/food investment and advisory business, delivering business performance optimisation, operational management and opportunity identification to drive investment performance, with a focus on production, crop science and agri-tech. Under Mr Craig’s leadership Capital Agri advised and invested in a number of businesses globally, including greenhouse technology, South East Asian food production, crop nutrition and functional foods. In early 2022, Capital Agri came together with Milltrust in a joint initiative; Milltrust Ventures UK, with Mr Craig joining the Milltrust team as part of this cooperation.
Today, Mr Craig is focused on identifying leading innovations for the British Innovation Fund II, as a member of the Milltrust Investment Committee and developing investment initiatives which contribute to improved outcomes for natural capital.
He sits on the board of Capital Agri International, the Lanka Salad Company, a production business in Asia, and RIPE Building Services Ltd, a greenhouse construction technology business in the UK.
Mr. Craig studied agribusiness and science, graduating with a Master of Science with distinction from the University of Otago, New Zealand. He divides his time between Edinburgh, London and the west coast of Scotland and is a keen outdoorsman.
