Dr. David Lai, MBBS (Hons I), FRACS (CTh), FRACS (GS), FRCS (Ed), FRCS (Eng) is an Australian qualified cardiothoracic and general surgeon. He is the co-managing partner of CamtechVentures Limited, a technology innovation, incubation and investment company that has brought to market several healthcare and biotechnology innovations. He co-founded Aktivolabs Pte.Ltd., a Singapore digital health company with a growing global footprint. Dr. Lai is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor of Surgical Research and Development in the Department of Surgery, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, and was previously the Associate Professor and Director of Surgical Research and Development at the National University of Singapore. He trained in cardiothoracic surgery at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital affiliated with the Harvard Medical School, the Toronto General Hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto and leading Australian hospitals affiliated with the University of Sydney. He was the recipient of the Carl and Leah McConnell Cardiovascular Research Fellowship from the Stanford University School of Medicine and conducted research in cardiac biomechanics. He was awarded the University Medal by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Sydney and the Gordon Gordon-Taylor Medal by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
